But I love reading about your pregnancy and wish I was having the same experience as you, weight gain and all. You are a fabulous person and look amazing. I wish you were what was considered the norm, not some size 2 twig with a slight bump that is about to give birth. I am proud of you, I think you are doing a fantastic job!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11803517365060018695noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1794426126775991530.post-22126126303216219672014-01-29T11:41:27.003-08:002014-01-29T11:41:27.003-08:00Thanks, Julia! Sadly, the only time a doctor ever commented on it was when I was pregnant with Charles and seeing my first OB - she wasn't my OB, but one in the practice and she told me, at 32 weeks, that I was "getting fat." Who SAYS THAT? To a pregnant woman in the care of your medical practice? I cried. Worst of all (and maybe I should cut her some slack for her terrible bedside manner because of this), she had just returned to work after having her first child. She was very skinny, btw. I switched doctors after that and couldn't be happier with my well-grounded family physician.Ameliahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05818287674488893761noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1794426126775991530.post-79558320443187635382014-01-29T11:28:38.997-08:002014-01-29T11:28:38.997-08:00amen, friend, amen. And what makes it a million times worse is that tabloids and magazines clearly make a lot of money when they run articles on pregnant celebrities and each and every article talks about her weight gain. Too much, or too little - she (and pretty much all mama's to be) cannot win. and then there are the "How I Got My Body Back" bullshit articles which only add to the prevailing and unspoken assumption that a woman's worth has to do with her weight - nevermind that she has just miraculously grown and birthed a child. I hate it, hate it. And for the record, I'm like you - I'm a gainer. And I appreciate seeing that other women have healthy pregnancies and simply gain weight. I was lucky that I've never had a care provider tell me to reign it in - both times they just told me that all women are different. And also for the record, you're beautiful. :) Juliahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13818857434232415441noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1794426126775991530.post-1863807753144335072014-01-29T11:26:36.699-08:002014-01-29T11:26:36.699-08:00I love everything about this post!
